An effective accident prevention and occupational safety and health hazard control program is based on proper job performance. When employees are properly educated and trained to their jobs, they do them safely.
A safety education and training program is required for new employee’s, introducing new equipment processes, revising or updating organization procedures, new safety information, improving employees performance, identified new or unexpected hazards, and on a periodic basis to refresh employee's knowledge of safety.
Employees with longer tenure also need education and training so that they have the same information about new equipment, products, or organization policies that new employees are receiving.
